Bone Grafting for Dental Implants Graphic

Build Your House On Solid Rock

Bone Grafting is used to create a strong foundation for dental implants. If your jaw bone has become too weak and thin due to extensive tooth loss, bone grafting can be used to increase volume back into the bone and ensure long-term dental implant stability. All bone grafting procedures, including sinus augmentations, can be completed by one of our specialists at our Park 40 office in New York. Take the first step and schedule a consultation to speak with one of our dental experts and become a candidate for dental implants today.

4 Steps To Building A Strong Foundation

1

Diagnose - How much bone do you have?

Using our advanced 3-D CBCT digital scan (included in your free consultation) we can clearly determine how much bone you have.

2

Plan - How much bone do you need?

Based on the results of the 3-D CBCT digital scan and a thorough clinical exam, we accurately determine the amount of bone grafting required.

3

Treat - Placing the bone grafts.

Guided by advanced digital technology and elite clinical skills, we place the bone grafts with precision and care leaving you with a strong foundation.

4

Heal - Bone Graft Transformation

After two to four months of healing, we see a transformation to solid bone. Your foundation for dental implants is set and volume has been restored back into the bone.

Preserve Your Smile With Bone Grafting

When a tooth is removed, the bone that once supported it will begin to shrink over time. Placement of bone grafting materials at the time of extraction will provide the body with a “scaffold” to create its own bone in the remaining socket as it heals, and will preserve the bone volume to allow placement of an implant. This bone is ideal for implant placement four to six months after the grafting procedure has taken place.

  • Minimize bone loss or shrinkage that occurs after a tooth extraction
  • Restore bone that has already been lost from a previous tooth extraction
  • Strengthen the jawbone to create a strong foundation for the dental implant

I had a very good experience receiving a free consultation. This included an evaluation with X-rays and CT Scan, which in itself is an excellent value. In no way do they try to “up-sell” you, in fact, they do just the opposite. They do their best to work with you to keep costs as low as possible without sacrificing your health.

I had tooth pain and they fit me in for an emergency visit. They were able to tell me the root of my pain. They set up a treatment plan to make sure I take better care of my teeth. The whole staff was awesome from the front desk to the Doctors and they have a patient coordinator who walked me through the whole process!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bone Grafting?

Bone grafting is a procedure used to rebuild bone in the upper and lower jaws that has been lost over time. This procedure can create a more solid base for a dental implant while ensuring long term stability and support. There are multiple materials that may be used for bone grafting. Options may include a natural or synthetic material. Talk to your NYC dental implant specialist at Park 40 about which option is best for you.

Will I need Bone Grafting?

The Bone Grafting procedure varies from patient to patient since everyone’s oral anatomy and bone structure is different. A complimentary 3-D CBCT digital scan will be provided in your free consultation so that we can determine how much bone a patient has and if that bone is sufficient enough to support the implant structure. Some patients may need only minor bone grafting which can be done at the time of the dental implant surgery, while others may require a more extensive procedure. The condition of your jawbone will determine the amount of bone grafting needed. Our Park 40 team will go over all possible options and will answer any questions at the time of your consultation.

What should I expect if I choose Bone Grafting?

  • In some cases, we will place the bone grafting material and the implants at the same time.  In other cases, we will have to place the bone grafting material first, allow healing time, and then place the implants on a different day.  How we approach each case will depend on your unique needs.  The exact plan will be discussed and determined during your free consultation.
  • The recovery time can be anywhere from two weeks to over two months. If you to undergo dental implant surgery, you will need to wait until the bone graft is fused with the bones that are already in the mouth.
  • After a dental bone graft, you can expect some pain or discomfort. Pain medications will be prescribed as needed to help you feel more comfortable during recovery, and to prevent infection.

How much does Bone Grafting cost?

Given that there are so many variables among patients, it’s almost impossible to come up with a “typical” cost, but here’s what we can say.  We understand that procedures like these can be a significant cost for many people. If that’s the case for you, we have solutions. Doris, our wonderful treatment coordinator, can walk you through the many available payment plans during your free consultation. We accept certain dental and medical insurances such as Cigna, Aetna, Anthem, and UnitedHealthcare. Call us today for your free consultation and to learn more about our financing options.
